Phoenix Travel Guide: Where to Stay & Play

I get a lot of questions about where to play when visiting Phoenix- and this is one of the best times to head down there! With the Waste Management Phoenix Open, endless desert golf possibilities and epic nightlife, Phoenix is quickly becoming a top golf destination. Here are my picks for the best places to play in town!

Kierland Golf Club | @westinkierland

In town for the Phoenix Open? Just down the street is one of the most innovative golf courses around. Golf Carts aren’t the “normal” mode of transportation at The Westin Kierland Golf Club. The have a “quintet of fun” with Segways, GolfBoards, golf bikes, TurfRiders and now Kierland Ellwees to use during a round. It’s all about fitness and fun at Kierland!

Troon North Golf Club | @troonnorthgc

While in Town for the Phoenix Open, one of the top golf courses in the country is just a few miles north! Troon North is an amazing experience with unbelievable views of the city. I enjoyed the Pinnacle course and look forward to playing the Monument course soon- you can expect the purest of greens once you arrive!

The Phoenician Golf Club | @phoenecianscottsdale

Where my fellow @sfgiants fans at?? Just down the street from the Giants spring training facility is the Phoenician which was just completely renovated in 2018. It’s a fun risk-reward course with incredible 360-views of the Valley. So if you’re in town for the Phoenix Open or Spring Training later this month, or BOTH, you have to check this place out!

Lookout Mountain GC| @lookoutmountaingolfclub

Did you know, the highest elevated tee box in Phoenix is at @lookoutmountaingolfclub? Hole number 10 is a par 4 that drops more than 14 stories down from the tee! The fairway slopes from left to right so when you let it ride from the tee, aim a bit left and then watch it run! This is course is a great one to fit in during your trip to the Phoenix Open!

Whirlwind Golf Club | @whirlwindgolf

Whirlwind has it all- with 36 holes of immaculate Championship golf, a hotel, casino, spa, and loads of other activities, you’ll never be bored! This course was host to the Korn Ferry Finals, and has one of the best practice facilities in the area. I’ve had such a positive experience at Whirlwind that I decided to make it my home base in Phoenix, and have been a member since I moved there in December- So if you end up playing there, you may see me out on the range or playing one of their premier courses.
